WebMy understanding is that when a caravan gets spooked, they sometimes deconstruct the wagon (and you are left with a pile of loot). The "Missing" indication is telling you that someone is blaming you for the loss of their wagon (and the contents), so they may not show up again to trade for a while (or may bring less stuff).
