WebbIf the drive gear on the starter is not sliding correctly to engage or disengage the ring gear, you need a new starter. There could also be a problem with the circuit itself such as when you turn the key to start, and are only getting partial or intermittent power to the starter. Webb16 aug. 2024 · The Jeep starts but the starter won't disengage. I'm not sure if the ignition switch connector is wired correctly or not? I tested the starter by jumping two terminals and it turns without engaging the flywheel and when I jump the other combo of terminal it turns the motor. Any Ideas?
